manila's version of CHINATOWN
------

it's been a while since i've been to ongpin. i actually went with my mom cause she asked her suki to make her a pearl setting to match her earrings. anyways, that's a totally different story. it's been nice to be back in ongpin on a friday, butas butas nga lang ang kalsada because inaayos, so medyo hassle. my objective's were to eat at SINCERITY - and their uber-cripsy fried chicken; and get myself cheap DVD's from mom's suki.

it was really mom's idea to eat at SINCERITY, at first kasi i had tons of thoughts going on my head of what food to eat. from their famous pao's, to canton, ling nam's noodle and siomai, and 'ang tunay na beef house'. hahaha. pangit ng name but their food is okay naman.

mom's craving for oyster cake

their famous fried chicken, which marj introduced me to.

i also got myself pansit canton (di ko lam bakit super nagcrave ako nito), ngohyong or kikiam roll with gravy. i think we paid around Php 500 for all this good stuff, it was defintely worth it.

some things about chinatown and binondo, and what makes it unique:

pedicab that comes from the middlw of nowhere

fruit vendors everywhere, and min you, they sell wide variety of fruits - i bought half a kilo of cherries, which is delicious.

jeep, nakakamiss naman ang tunog ng jeep, pero minsan lang.

kalesa, i remember when i was young, i'd often ride the kalesa.

good thing, i didn't drive that day, or i migh go crazy. mom still tells me na pag nagdrive daw ako, ang initin ng ulo ko. well, sino ba naman ang hinde iinit ang ulo, pag nagdrive sa binondo or in manila itself?!
